Specialty Doctor – Palliative Medicine (up to 32 hrs/week)

About the role

Ardgowan Hospice is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join its multidisciplinary team. This fixed‑term, part‑time position offers up to 32 hours per week across inpatient and community settings, with a 1‑in‑5 non‑residential on‑call commitment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide middle‑tier medical cover for hospice inpatients and community patients.
• Participate in a 1‑in‑5 on‑call rota, with additional on‑call pay.
• Collaborate with senior medical staff who are available for support at all times.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement projects, clinical governance activities and education initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree with GMC registration.
• Minimum four years of postgraduate experience.
• Interest in palliative medicine or a desire to develop experience for future roles in general practice, oncology or related fields.
• Strong organisational abilities and capacity to prioritise clinical and non‑clinical tasks.
