Sous Chef – Full-Time Position

About the role

The Glass Goose Bar & Eatery is a hidden rooftop venue in Auckland offering a contemporary, casual dining experience. We are looking for a permanent Sous Chef who will set a culinary example, maintain high standards, and support the kitchen team. This full‑time role involves overseeing food preparation, quality, and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Complete ordering and stocktaking to manage food costs.
• Monitor quality of dishes at all preparation and presentation stages.
• Discuss food preparation issues with managers, kitchen and waiting staff.
• Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures.
• Prepare and cook food to a consistently high standard.
• Ensure all food is pre‑pped and portion‑controlled before service.
• Maintain clear communication between kitchen, front of house and head office.

Required profile

• A passion for food and creating memorable experiences.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong leadership and culinary abilities.
• Energy and enthusiasm to share with the team.
• Proven experience in a fast‑paced, high‑end kitchen environment.
• NZ Register Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) or at least three years of relevant experience.
