Solution Architect – Data Solutions (Permanent, Wellington)

About the role

We are seeking a Solution Architect specialized in Data Solutions to join a leading New Zealand data‑focused company in Wellington. You will work with multiple clients, bridging business strategy and technical delivery, and translate complex requirements into well‑architected, secure, and scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and oversee end‑to‑end data, analytics and AI solutions across hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.
• Translate business requirements into technical architectures spanning Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Kubernetes and on‑premise infrastructure.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with governance, IAM and data‑privacy standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to embed DevSecOps, DataOps and automation practices.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout delivery cycles.

Required profile

• 8+ years experience designing end‑to‑end solutions across cloud, data and platform environments.
• Strong expertise in Azure and AWS (compute, networking, storage, security).
• Proven track record designing data platforms and AI solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes (AKS/EKS) and container‑based architectures.
• Deep knowledge of Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform or Azure Bicep preferred).
• Experience embedding DevSecOps, DataOps and automation.
• Solid understanding of security, IAM and data‑governance frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and NZ working rights.
• Relevant certifications (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Snowflake) and experience in regulated industries are a plus.
