Solicitor Position for Experienced Judges’ Clerk (2027)

About the role

Simpson Grierson is seeking a second‑year Judges’ Clerk to join its Wellington Litigation team as a solicitor in 2027. This role offers the chance to work on complex, high‑stakes public and commercial disputes within a collaborative, high‑performing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Handle contractual disputes, tort claims, public law matters, judicial review and regulatory issues.
• Engage in climate change, environmental, constitutional, and law‑reform litigation.
• Represent clients in High Court and appellate advocacy, mediation, arbitration and risk‑management matters.
• Provide strategic advice and work closely with national Litigation practice and other firm specialists.

Required profile

• Legal qualification with current experience as a Judges’ Clerk.
• Strong academic results and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Analytical ability, good judgment, curiosity and genuine interest in litigation.
• Interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships and a collaborative mindset.
