Software Engineering Internship – Geospatial Technology

About the role

Join Trimble’s world‑class development team in Christchurch as a Software Engineering Intern. You will work on the Trimble Access data collection platform, contributing to radio communications, 3D visualization, and cloud connectivity across Windows and Android.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, design, implement, and test bug fixes and enhancements in the Trimble Access core codebase.
• Collaborate with global team members supporting GNSS receivers, optical total stations, and smart targets.
• Apply theoretical software engineering practices to solve real‑world technical problems.
• Partner with an assigned mentor to improve engineering predictability, scheduling, and product quality.

Required profile

• Working towards a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Exposure to programming languages, development processes and modern software techniques.
• Solid understanding of common software design patterns.
• Strong analytical mindset, curiosity and a proactive drive for innovation.

Required skills

• C++ programming, especially in mobile or embedded environments.
• Cross‑platform development for Windows and Android.
• Knowledge of software design patterns.
