Software Engineer

About the role

ASB is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Digital & Engineering Practice. You will work within a collaborative squad, contributing across the full software development lifecycle to deliver secure, reliable solutions that enhance customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to analysis, design, development, testing and support activities.
• Build and maintain software solutions that are secure, reliable and performant.
• Participate in peer reviews and uphold high engineering standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify innovation opportunities.
• Work closely with squad members to deliver customer‑focused outcomes.
• Develop enterprise engineering and DevOps capabilities.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications and platforms.
• Engage in an Agile team environment that values collaboration and learning.

Required profile

• Passion for technology and desire to develop engineering capability.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
• Knowledge of Agile ways of working and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience contributing across software design, development, testing and support.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to tackle unfamiliar technical challenges.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders.
• Customer‑focused mindset and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
• Interest in continuous learning and professional development.
• Understanding of engineering best practices, risk management and compliance requirements.
