Software Engineer – Enterprise Integration

About the role

The University of Otago’s Digital Services team is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Integration and Automation team in Dunedin. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, creating and modernising integrations in a hybrid technology environment.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
• Develop and maintain integrations using Jitterbit or a comparable iPaaS platform.
• Modernise existing integrations with contemporary design patterns and best practices.
• Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot issues and improve solutions.
• Produce clear technical documentation and support Agile delivery processes.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer or information science, with a passion for software development.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation.
• Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.

Required skills

• Experience with Jitterbit or a similar integration platform (iPaaS).
• Knowledge of integration design principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in Java, SQL, Python, C# or comparable languages.
• Familiarity with Quarkus, OpenShift, container platforms (desirable).
• Exposure to event‑driven architectures, streaming platforms, or IoT (desirable).
