Senior Solicitor – Employment & Relationship Disputes

About the role

Join a nationally ranked Employment & Relationship Disputes practice in Wellington. The role works closely with Partner Andy Bell on a variety of contentious matters, including employment disputes, investigations, high‑value relationship property disputes and complex negotiations across public and private sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Engage directly with clients and key stakeholders.
• Represent clients in mediations, the Employment Relations Authority, Employment Court and Family Court.
• Lead negotiations to achieve pragmatic outcomes.
• Research, analyse and draft high‑quality submissions, affidavits and legal advice with autonomy.
• Support and mentor junior team members, developing leadership skills.
• Manage files end‑to‑end to deliver timely, high‑quality results.
• Contribute positively to team culture and the firm’s strategic direction.

Required profile

• 2–6 years post‑qualification experience, preferably focused on employment or family law.
• Background in litigation or dispute resolution.
• Demonstrated experience in mediation and negotiation‑heavy work.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and work closely with a partner who is deeply invested in lawyer development.
