Senior Software Engineer – Operations Software

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer – Operations Software at Rocket Lab’s Auckland site, you will create, maintain, deploy and support software components for launch vehicle and spacecraft operations. You will own product features, work independently on allocated tasks, and contribute to ambitious space missions.

Key responsibilities

• Acquire, ingest and store telemetry from launch operations, spacecraft operations, integrated systems testing, operational simulations and sub‑system testing.
• Design, implement and test software, architecture and fixes based on feature requests and bugs.
• Create operational documentation for software products.
• Manage source code using Git, conduct code reviews and establish review standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Proficiency with Git and issue‑tracking tools such as Redmine or Jira.
• Strong experience in Golang development.
• Experience building high‑performance, scalable systems.
