Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join Seequent’s high‑performing team responsible for Leapfrog, the industry‑leading 3D geological modelling platform used worldwide by geoscientists in mining, energy, civil and environmental projects. The role focuses on evolving the desktop application through new modules, libraries and robust engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain core modules and shared libraries for Leapfrog.
• Integrate new functionality into a complex desktop application.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and performance.
• Experiment with new technologies to improve product quality and performance.
• Support and promote engineering best practices across the team.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold high standards of code quality.
• Lead technical design discussions and make architectural decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their technical growth.
• Participate in project planning, estimation and prioritisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience in desktop application development.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Python or ability to quickly learn it in a production setting.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously within a cross‑functional team.
