Senior Public Relations Executive – Fixed‑term, Auckland

About the role

The Senior Public Relations Executive will help shape and amplify New Zealand’s reputation as a world‑class travel destination. Working closely with the Public Relations Manager, you will lead strategic global PR initiatives and deliver earned media coverage that raises the Tourism New Zealand brand internationally. This is a fixed‑term position covering parental leave from August 2026 to August 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and execute best‑in‑class earned PR projects and large‑scale tentpole campaigns.
• Manage high‑profile projects from brief to delivery, including on‑the‑ground production in New Zealand.
• Produce and distribute compelling PR content and supporting materials across earned channels.
• Coordinate with creative and production agencies, broadcast producers, media partners and KOLs.
• Ensure health & safety compliance and effective stakeholder management throughout each project.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in public relations, content, sponsorship or journalism.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale PR projects with external agencies.
• Strong understanding of media industry, channels and publishers both in New Zealand and internationally.
• Excellent storytelling ability, attention to detail and calmness under pressure.
• Full NZ driver’s licence, right to work in New Zealand and willingness to travel domestically frequently.
