Senior Project Manager

About the role
As a Senior Project Manager at Northpower, you will own projects from planning through to completion, ensuring smooth delivery in the field while managing budgets, resources, schedules, risks, and stakeholder expectations. You will coordinate activities, monitor financial performance, and support field teams to deliver outstanding results for our customers across New Zealand.
Key responsibilities
- Manage maintenance and infrastructure projects from initiation to close‑out.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, delivery plans and work packs.
- Coordinate resources, materials, plant and subcontractors.
- Prepare and manage project documentation, including execution, health & safety, environmental, risk, quality and communication plans.
- Monitor budgets, work‑in‑progress, forecasting and financial performance; provide accurate reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain customer relationships and stakeholder communications.
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Lead project close‑out activities, reconciliations and lessons‑learned reviews.
- Champion safety, quality and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Required profile
- Strong communicator and relationship builder with problem‑solving ability.
- Experience managing projects in electrical, utilities, infrastructure or construction environments.
- Understanding of project and job management fundamentals.
- Experience with electrical distribution networks or similar infrastructure.
- Strong financial acumen for budgeting and forecasting.
- Excellent planning, scheduling and organisational skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
- Class 1 driver licence.
