Senior Project Manager – 12‑month contract (Wellington)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead delivery across multiple workstreams of a high‑impact programme. This 12‑month contract position is based in Wellington and will require strong governance, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery across key workstreams, ensuring progress against agreed outcomes.
• Develop and maintain delivery plans, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
• Provide clear oversight of delivery status, including risks, issues, and mitigations.
• Drive accountability across workstreams and ensure delivery expectations are met.
• Collaborate with the Programme Manager to prioritise work and adapt to changing priorities.
• Coordinate across multiple workstreams to ensure alignment and support governance reporting.
• Enable decision‑making by delivering timely information and recommendations.
• Maintain a structured and calm delivery approach in a fast‑paced environment.

Required profile

• Proven delivery leadership with the ability to drive progress and hold stakeholders accountable.
• Strong structured project‑management skills, including planning, tracking, and risk management.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving environment with shifting priorities.
• Calm under pressure, providing stability in complex or uncertain situations.
• Excellent stakeholder management, comfortable engaging senior government and external partners.
• Clear communication skills for concise, fit‑for‑purpose reporting.
• Pragmatic problem‑solving approach and relationship‑building capability.
• Experience in regulatory and policy environments, understanding the interaction between policy, legislation, and delivery.
