Senior Procurement Specialist

About the role

Laminex New Zealand, part of the Fletcher Building Group, is looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist to lead and support procurement outcomes across a diverse supplier portfolio. You will work closely with the Strategic Sourcing Manager, balancing strategic oversight with hands‑on day‑to‑day activities.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end contract management, lead commercial negotiations and optimise terms while mitigating supply risks.
• Conduct local and international supplier negotiations, focusing on pricing and commercial terms.
• Deliver cost‑saving initiatives and measurable business value.
• Build and influence strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Prepare business cases and presentations for senior leadership.
• Provide data‑driven insights and reporting using Excel.
• Maintain and improve procurement master‑data accuracy.
• Drive process improvements and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Lead or support sourcing strategies, RFx processes and cross‑functional procurement projects.
• Act as second‑in‑command to the Strategic Sourcing Manager, stepping in as delegate when required.

Required profile

• 3–5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in contract management, supplier negotiation and risk mitigation.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract clauses.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and build effective relationships.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (cost analysis, pivots, VLOOKUP, reporting).
• Experience with AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, BPICS or similar).
