Senior Procurement Specialist

About the role

Kāinga Ora is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to lead end‑to‑end sourcing activities for a portfolio of construction and infrastructure projects. Based in Auckland or Christchurch, you will help deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes for New Zealand communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with organisational goals.
• Manage market engagements, negotiations and supplier relationships.
• Collaborate with business units to translate needs into effective procurement approaches.
• Contribute to category management, procurement strategy and continuous improvement of processes.
• Ensure compliance, value for money and quality throughout the procurement lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading end‑to‑end procurement in complex or large‑scale environments.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced setting, handling multiple priorities.
• Commercial acumen with experience in sourcing strategies and negotiations.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong influencing and communication abilities.
• Experience in construction or infrastructure procurement is advantageous.
