Senior Procurement Consultant

About the role

Morrison Low Advisory is seeking a senior procurement professional with strong experience in New Zealand local government. You will join our advisory team to help councils improve procurement, commercial and service‑delivery outcomes across a variety of operational and capital projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support councils in developing procurement strategies, market engagement plans and tendering processes.
• Lead evaluation, commercial negotiation and contract award activities for operational services and capital works.
• Prepare client‑ready procurement documentation, reports and presentations that translate complex information into clear recommendations.
• Manage multiple priorities, ensuring high‑quality delivery within agreed timeframes and budgets.
• Build trusted relationships with council stakeholders and internal advisors.

Required profile

• Relevant degree and at least 7 years of experience in procurement or related commercial disciplines.
• Proven experience leading or advising on full procurement cycles, including planning, market engagement, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
• Deep understanding of local government operations, governance requirements, funding constraints and stakeholder expectations.
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, client‑ready documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high‑quality work.
