Senior People & Capability Advisor

About the role

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will lead end‑to‑end recruitment across New Zealand and Australia while providing hands‑on HR and employment‑relations advice to leaders throughout the group. You will work with an existing recruitment toolkit and own the people policy suite, becoming the go‑to advisor when complex issues arise.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute full recruitment cycles – from manager brief to offer and onboarding hand‑off.
• Coach hiring managers on interview techniques, assessment rigour and legal obligations.
• Provide timely, practical advice on performance management, capability, conduct and employee‑relations matters, ensuring procedural fairness.
• Draft, refresh and maintain a plain‑English people policy suite that is actively used by leaders.
• Run onboarding and off‑boarding experiences that reflect company values.
• Track recruitment and people metrics and use data to continuously improve the function each quarter.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience as a People & Culture generalist with a proven record of delivering recruitment campaigns and managing ER casework independently.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand’s Employment Relations Act 2000, Human Rights Act 1993 and Privacy Act 2020, and ability to apply Australian equivalents.
• Direct and courageous – comfortable having early, hard conversations and challenging leaders when compliance is at risk.
• Trusted with sensitive matters and reliable in meeting deadlines for campaigns, casework and policy updates.
