Senior Mobile Engineer (iOS)

About the role

Join Air New Zealand’s digital transformation as a Senior Mobile Engineer focused on iOS. You will lead the design and delivery of high‑quality mobile experiences that support millions of journeys worldwide, working within a high‑performing product team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers to turn concepts into intuitive, high‑impact solutions.
• Improve app performance, reliability and maintainability, delivering measurable speed and stability gains.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve complex bugs and performance issues.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring secure, scalable and future‑ready mobile platforms.
• Champion modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support other mobile engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional iOS development experience.
• Deep expertise in Swift and SwiftUI with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with backend‑for‑frontend patterns; exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture, design patterns and Apple UI guidelines.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
• Proven problem‑solving ability in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
• Experience using AI tooling to enhance development workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.
