Senior Manager / Director, Private Business Advisory

About the role

This senior leadership position is based in Hamilton within PwC New Zealand’s Private Business Advisory team. You will lead a diverse portfolio of privately owned clients, delivering high‑quality accounting, tax and advisory services while shaping the future growth of the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a high‑quality portfolio spanning accounting, tax compliance and advisory services, delivering practical and commercially sound outcomes.
• Act as a trusted adviser to senior clients across business, finance, accounting and tax matters.
• Drive complex work in statutory reporting, tax compliance, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and business improvement initiatives.
• Strengthen client relationships, identify new opportunities and contribute to the commercial success of the practice.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• Strong experience in accounting, tax and advisory services, preferably in a professional services or similarly complex commercial environment.
• Proven ability to lead client engagements and build trusted senior relationships.
• Demonstrated people‑leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring across multiple engagements.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a proactive approach to innovation and new ways of working.
