Senior Management Accountant

About the role

The Senior Management Accountant will act as the second‑in‑command to the Head of Finance for the Design and Creative Technologies Faculty. This permanent, full‑time position is based at AUT’s City Campus and offers the chance to influence strategic decisions, drive continuous improvement and partner closely with senior academic leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial leadership, analysis and trusted advice to senior stakeholders across four schools.
• Support the Head of Finance in overseeing budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial controls.
• Identify and implement process improvements and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Lead and contribute to finance‑related projects and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with faculty leaders, simplifying complex financial information.
• Partner with stakeholders to challenge the status‑quo and add value to decision‑making.

Required profile

• Commercially minded finance professional with a proactive, ambitious attitude.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent judgment, transparency and a collaborative approach.
• Experience working in a fast‑moving, complex environment, preferably in higher education.
