Senior Environmental Advisor

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to lead the environmental management of the Northland Corridor Warkworth‑to‑Te Hana – Ara Tūhono project in New Zealand. The role will be based initially in Auckland and later at an office between Warkworth and Wellsford, supporting the delivery of one of the country’s most significant transport infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with construction teams and engineers on environmental matters.
• Obtain, maintain and report on environmental approvals and compliance.
• Implement and monitor the project’s Environmental Management Plan, policies, sub‑plans and legislative requirements.
• Lead risk management, incident response and environmental monitoring programmes.
• Provide regular performance reports to the Environment and Sustainability Manager.
• Develop and deliver environmental training, toolbox talks and inductions.
• Mentor and support direct reports and coordinate field advisors.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Extensive site experience with environmental regulations and management plan implementation in the construction industry.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and lead a team of coordinators/advisors.
• Willingness to work onsite in Auckland and later in the Warkworth‑Wellsford region.

Required skills

• Knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance processes.
• Experience with audit procedures and environmental monitoring.
