Senior Developer

About the role

The Senior Developer will design, build and enhance AUT’s AI and digital experience platforms. Working on a range of initiatives—from application development and integrations to cloud services and AI‑enabled solutions—you will deliver scalable, user‑centred outcomes for the university.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain modern software solutions across the full development lifecycle.
• Architect, prototype, deliver to production, provide ongoing support and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead technical practices within the team, mentor junior developers and promote high‑performance engineering standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to integrate AI capabilities and cloud services into university‑wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of professional software development experience.
• Proven ability to work across architecture, development, delivery and support phases.
• Pragmatic, delivery‑focused mindset with enthusiasm for trying new ideas.
