Senior Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join a leading civil infrastructure firm in New Zealand. The role focuses on delivering complex structural and temporary works designs for major infrastructure projects, working alongside an experienced and collaborative engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop structural and temporary works designs for civil infrastructure projects.
• Design temporary works solutions such as formwork, falsework, shoring, and support systems.
• Apply constructability principles and innovative construction methods to improve safety, efficiency, and cost outcomes.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings, and technical documentation to a high standard.
• Collaborate with site and project teams to ensure designs are practical, safe, and buildable.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and report to senior engineering leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5+ years experience as a Structural Design Engineer.
• Experience in Temporary Works Engineering within civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction practices and constructability principles.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
