Senior Data Engineer – 12-Month Fixed Term

About the role

The Senior Data Engineer will design, build and optimise end‑to‑end data solutions that support business intelligence, regulatory reporting and strategic initiatives for ANZ’s Data & Marketing division. Working in a multidisciplinary squad, you will translate business and analytics requirements into robust, scalable pipelines and data assets.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL and Python.
• Optimise data platforms for performance and efficiency (Airflow, Spark, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews and best‑practice enforcement.
• Define and enforce data governance, security and regulatory compliance standards.
• Drive automation, CI/CD and DevOps practices to improve reliability and delivery speed.
• Develop reusable data assets for reporting, trend analysis and insight generation.
• Ensure data quality through governance controls and continuous improvement.
• Design, build and troubleshoot solutions on the Teradata platform, including GCFR and FSDM.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and operating large‑scale data pipelines.
• Strong background in mentoring junior engineers and sharing knowledge.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an agile, cross‑functional team.
