Senior Contracts Advisor

About the role

Metlink is seeking an experienced, commercially‑minded Senior Contracts Advisor to join its Commercial Partnerships Team in central Wellington. The role is permanent and will report to the Manager of Contracts and Partnerships, providing expert advice on a wide range of public‑transport contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead contract management activities, ensuring all contractual documents are properly filed, archived and accessible.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks across bus, rail and ferry operator agreements.
• Develop and implement contract‑management processes and tools in line with Greater Wellington policies.
• Provide clear contract performance, risk and opportunity information to Metlink officers.
• Act as the subject‑matter expert and escalation point for interpretation of contract terms.
• Deliver timely reminders of contractual obligations such as bonds, plans and reports.
• Support project teams with commercial input and review variations, supply agreements, sub‑contracts, MOUs and renewals in collaboration with legal and procurement.

Required profile

• Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to build effective cross‑functional relationships.
• Extensive experience in contract management, preferably within the public‑transport or infrastructure sector.
• Deep understanding of bus, rail and ferry operator agreements and related regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for risk assessment and contract interpretation.
