Senior Consultant – Controls Assurance

About the role

Deloitte is seeking a Senior Consultant to join its Controls Assurance team in Wellington. You will work with clients across finance, IT, operations and risk to strengthen their internal control environments and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver controls assurance and internal audit engagements for a variety of industries.
• Collaborate with engagement teams, subject‑matter experts and senior Deloitte leaders to plan and execute fieldwork.
• Analyse business processes, identify control gaps and provide practical recommendations to senior management.
• Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of IT and non‑IT controls using professional judgement.
• Coach and develop junior team members, enhancing their technical capability in client settings.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in IT/digital risk, controls assessment, or internal audit.
• Background in professional services, large corporate or public‑sector environments.
• Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see broader business and risk implications.
• Excellent communication skills and a problem‑solving mindset.
