Senior Clinical Educator – Nurse Practitioner

About the role

The Faculty of Health at the University of Canterbury is seeking a Senior Clinical Educator – Nurse Practitioner to join its growing Nursing Team. This part‑time (15 hours per week) permanent position will support the advanced practice nursing programmes that lead to Registered Nurse Prescriber and Nurse Practitioner qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, update and deliver blended‑learning courses for the Registered Nurse Prescribing and Nurse Practitioner programmes.
• Provide high‑quality teaching and assessment for postgraduate nursing students.
• Engage in collaborative research projects with faculty and external partners.
• Contribute to service duties across health programmes, the Faculty and the wider University.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse Practitioner in New Zealand with a current practising certificate.
• Masters or Doctorate in Nursing or a related discipline.
• Proven experience teaching at postgraduate level in advanced nursing practice.
• Strong understanding of the Aotearoa‑New Zealand health context and bicultural competence, with commitment to Māori values, tikanga and kawa.

Required skills

• Effective tertiary‑level teaching and curriculum design.
• Experience delivering blended or online courses.
• Ability to collaborate on interdisciplinary research.
• Competency in bicultural practice; te reo Māori knowledge is an advantage.
