About the role

This permanent position offers a senior leadership opportunity within the 16‑bed Succoth Ward, an in‑patient mental health facility located at Mid Argyll Community Hospital in Lochgilphead. The role carries 24‑hour responsibility for the continuity of care across a remote, rural catchment that includes 23 inhabited islands on Scotland’s west coast.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24‑hour clinical oversight and ensure safe, effective patient care.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of mental health nurses and health‑care assistants within the Health and Social Care Partnership governance framework.
• Drive continuous professional development and uphold high standards of clinical practice.
• Enhance the patient experience through quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with multi‑professional partners to deliver integrated mental health services.

Required profile

• Registered mental health nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Degree‑level education or equivalent evidence of continuous professional development.
• Minimum of 5 years post‑registration experience in a relevant mental health setting.
• Demonstrated expert clinical practice and professional credibility across staff groups.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage practice standards, and support staff development.
