Senior Authority Officer

About the role

The Employment Relations Authority (ERA) is seeking a Senior Authority Officer to join its high‑performing team in Auckland CBD. You will provide expert case assessment, decision‑making and operational support while mentoring junior officers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a personal caseload, conducting thorough assessments and sound decisions in line with employment legislation.
• Coach, mentor and support Authority Officers to ensure consistent, high‑quality advice and case management.
• Collaborate with the ERA Business Support Manager to maintain best practice administration and service delivery.
• Oversee the efficient handling of files across the local office and nationally, ensuring a professional customer experience.
• Contribute to the development of policies, frameworks and allocation processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in front‑line response, allocation functions and case management.
• Strong organisational abilities with the capacity to prioritise workload under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience in coaching or leading individuals or teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, operational policy and related business processes.
