Senior Architectural Technician

About the role

Pynenburg & Collins Architects is seeking a Senior Architectural Technician who takes pride in high‑quality documentation and wants to contribute to technically demanding, meaningful projects across science, research, education, and remote environments.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and lead technical drawings, details, and specifications to a high standard.
• Coordinate technical information across consultant drawings and identify clashes early.
• Ensure documentation complies with the NZ Building Code, relevant standards, and consent requirements.
• Work closely with architects to translate design intent into clear, constructible detail.
• Lead documentation production for full or partial projects and quality‑check the work of others.
• Support and mentor junior technical staff in documentation standards and digital tools.
• Undertake site observations and communicate findings to the project team.
• Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders to keep projects moving.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Architectural Technician at a senior level.
• Strong technical documentation skills across multiple project stages.
• Solid understanding of the NZ Building Code and consent processes.
• Proficiency in Revit and other industry‑standard documentation tools.
• Ability to lead, quality‑check, and mentor team members.
• Clear communicator who works well with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Practical, solutions‑oriented approach to technical problem‑solving.
