Senior Advisor, Health and Safety

About the role
This senior advisory position supports CAA’s proactive, risk‑based health, safety and wellbeing agenda across Christchurch and Queenstown. You will act as a trusted partner to leaders, shaping safety culture and embedding robust practices throughout the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic, evidence‑based advice on all health and safety matters.
- Coach, influence and constructively challenge leaders to raise safety capability and accountability.
- Design, deliver and evaluate strategic H&S initiatives aligned with organisational objectives.
- Lead incident investigations and manage follow‑up actions.
- Use data, insights and reporting to drive decision‑making and cultural change.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions and communications that build capability at all levels.
Required profile
- Minimum five years of health and safety experience, preferably in large or complex environments.
- Deep knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation, standards and best practice.
- Proven ability to influence, coach and respectfully challenge senior leaders.
- Strong stakeholder‑engagement track record and ability to build trusted relationships.
- Full NZ driver’s licence.
Required skills
- Experience designing or refining health and safety management systems.
- Strong analytical, communication and coaching abilities.
What we offer
- Competitive salary band of $115,536 – $141,751 NZD per year, based on experience and internal equity.
