Senior Accountant

About the role

Polson Higgs is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Dunedin team. You will work with a diverse client base that includes partnerships, trusts, companies and SMEs, delivering both compliance and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate accounting, tax and management information for a range of clients.
• Guide and mentor junior staff, reviewing their work and supporting development.
• Lead advisory projects such as budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting and management accounting.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering sound business and technical advice.
• Participate in training programmes and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Ensure quality, timeliness and professional presentation of all deliverables.

Required profile

• CA qualification with at least 5 years of relevant accounting experience in a New Zealand company.
• Experience with farming or agribusiness clients is an advantage.
• NZ residency or citizenship.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
