Senior Accountant / Finance Manager

About the role

This senior finance position is based in Lower Hutt and offers a blend of strategic oversight and hands‑on financial management within a well‑established New Zealand manufacturing and construction business. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership while driving day‑to‑day finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial and management reports.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling activities.
• Conduct commercial analysis and provide business performance insights.
• Manage inventory, stock valuation and construction project costing.
• Oversee cash‑flow, treasury and working‑capital management.
• Ensure GST, FBT and other tax compliance.
• Maintain financial controls, reconciliations and month‑end processes.
• Supervise payment runs, claims and royalty administration.
• Lead two remote finance team members and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in a major ERP system transformation.

Required profile

• CA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong financial and management accounting expertise.
• Proven experience in month‑end reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role.
