Senior Account Manager – Steel Sales

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Account Manager to lead the growth of our plates processing business across New Zealand. This hands‑on, target‑driven B2B sales role combines new‑business development with team leadership, where success is measured by revenue growth, client partnerships and the performance of the sales team.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities across the region.
• Manage and expand an existing customer portfolio, preparing accurate quotes and costings.
• Deliver sales presentations and product solutions, monitoring market trends and upcoming projects.
• Maintain a strong sales pipeline and consistently achieve targets.
• Provide guidance, coaching and support to the sales team, setting priorities and focus areas.
• Support onboarding and development of junior team members and act as escalation point for key accounts.
• Collaborate with management to ensure team targets are met.

Required profile

• 5+ years of B2B external sales experience with a proven record of meeting or exceeding targets.
• Strong new‑business development (“hunter”) capability.
• Experience in quoting, pricing and margin management with solid commercial acumen.
• Confident negotiation and closing ability, and ability to manage a sales pipeline and forecasting.
• Intermediate proficiency with CRM, Excel and quoting systems.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach or lead a small team.
