Sawmill Worker

About the role

A busy sawmill team in Christchurch is looking for a reliable and hardworking Sawmill Labourer. The work is physically demanding and repetitive, with the employee on their feet for the whole shift, either outdoors or in a covered shed. It is a long-term opportunity with ongoing training, and there is a temp-to-perm path for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Assist on the green table by stacking timber onto pallets
• Work and communicate across multiple stations within the sawmill
• Learn sawmill and machine operations
• Carry out general labouring and production support duties
• Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, including housekeeping and cleanup
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times

Required profile

• Comfortable with repetitive physical work and being on your feet the whole shift
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy loads
• Able to work independently and within a team
• Reliable, with own transport (no public transport access)
• Able to pass a drug test and MOJ check, and has the right to work in New Zealand
• Suitable backgrounds include sawmills, manufacturing, machine operation, warehousing, food processing and farming; experience is not required

What we offer

• $25.00-$26.50 per hour plus 8% holiday pay
• Monday to Friday work starting at 6am
• Temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate
• Training provided across multiple areas of the sawmill
