Ruby Engineer – Web Scraping (Remote)

About the role

SearchApi is looking for a Ruby Engineer who will own the development and maintenance of web‑scraping pipelines that power real‑time SERP APIs for Fortune‑500 customers. You will work remotely in a fast‑moving, bootstrapped environment where your code runs at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Fix broken parsers and add new elements to existing search‑engine integrations under tight deadlines.
• Build and ship new search‑engine connectors, reverse‑engineering website protections and anti‑bot mechanisms.
• Debug browser‑automation issues, including CDP, fingerprinting and evasion techniques.
• Write and improve documentation, landing pages, and admin‑dashboard features.
• Review pull requests, test releases, and rotate on customer‑support tickets.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving mindset; comfortable working under pressure.
• Self‑starter who can learn new APIs and website structures quickly.
• Effective communicator who can interact directly with customers.

Required skills

• Ruby (3.4) and Ruby on Rails (8.1).
• Hotwire (Stimulus.js + Turbo) and TailwindCSS.
• PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq.
• Terraform and AWS.
• Browser automation, CDP, anti‑bot evasion, concurrency.
