Roading Manager – Stratford District

About the role

The Stratford District Council is seeking a Roading Manager to lead the stewardship of the district’s roading network. You will shape how residents live, work and travel across Taranaki by guiding planning, maintenance and improvement of transport infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, maintenance and enhancement of the district’s road network.
• Manage road construction, sealing and maintenance contracts.
• Develop and implement asset‑management strategies for roading assets.
• Prepare reports, advise decision‑makers and monitor budget performance.
• Lead a dedicated team, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and ensure safe, reliable routes.

Required profile

• Strong experience in roading, civil infrastructure or a related field.
• Relevant qualification in engineering, civil works or similar.
• Proven track record in road maintenance, construction or sealing contract management.
• Understanding of asset‑management processes within a local‑government environment.
• Leadership capability to guide staff, manage contractors and build stakeholder relationships.
