River Engineer – Technical & Asset Support

About the role
The River Engineer – Technical & Asset Support works within the Catchment Technical & Design team to provide expert analysis of river behaviour, support asset planning and inform operational decisions. The role blends engineering expertise with risk‑based decision‑making to ensure sustainable river system management.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse river hydraulics, sediment dynamics and flood risk to guide management actions.
- Provide technical support to asset management, planning and operations teams.
- Interpret monitoring data and field observations to develop practical recommendations.
- Assist in prioritising and optimising work programmes based on risk assessments.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate river engineering insights into asset lifecycle planning.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Natural Resources Engineering or a related discipline (progress towards CPEng desirable).
- 5–7 years of experience in river engineering, civil engineering or water resources.
- Strong understanding of river processes, sediment dynamics and flood risk management.
- Ability to work with data, models and field observations to inform decisions.
- Full, current driver’s licence for safe field work.
