Risk Advisor

About the role

Join NZ Post’s enterprise‑wide second line risk function as a Risk Advisor. Based in Auckland or Wellington with hybrid working, you will provide independent risk advice, challenge and assurance across the organisation, helping leaders identify, assess and manage the most important risks.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver independent risk advice and constructive challenge to stakeholders across value streams, platforms and functions.
• Support risk identification, assessment and risk‑based decision‑making.
• Promote consistent application of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework through education, workshops and capability uplift.
• Contribute to the enterprise assurance programme by assessing control design and effectiveness.
• Identify and communicate emerging, systemic and cross‑functional risk themes.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships while preserving independence as a second‑line partner.
• Provide risk and assurance reporting, insights and recommendations to senior leaders.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in risk management, preferably in a second‑line risk environment.
• Strong understanding of risk concepts, trends and enterprise risk management principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Proven ability to influence and build trusted relationships across a complex organisation.
• Relevant tertiary qualification; professional risk certifications are a plus.
