About the role
Russell McVeagh’s Auckland litigation team is seeking a lawyer with 1‑4 years of experience to join its nationally recognised restructuring and insolvency practice. The role offers exposure to complex domestic and cross‑border restructuring, insolvency, and related commercial disputes for a diverse client base.
Key responsibilities
- Assist senior lawyers on workouts, turnarounds, formal insolvencies, enforcement actions and distressed refinancing transactions.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, opinions, and transactional documents for restructuring and insolvency matters.
- Liaise with courts, financial institutions, insolvency practitioners and other stakeholders.
- Support commercial dispute work and collaborate with other practice groups within the firm.
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer with 1‑4 years of post‑qualification experience.
- Background in litigation, banking or corporate advisory with exposure to restructuring and insolvency.
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, think critically and build collaborative relationships.
Required skills
- Legal research and drafting.
- Understanding of restructuring and insolvency law.
- Case management and client communication.
