Residential Solar Design Engineer

About the role

Fisher & Paykel Home Solutions is looking for an experienced Residential Solar Design Engineer to join its Design Services team in Auckland. This is a technical design role where you create residential solar and whole-of-home energy solutions, working with the Product, Sales, Installation and Service teams to turn customer requirements into practical, robust designs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed residential solar and energy system designs that meet engineering, regulatory and customer requirements
• Interpret customer specifications and prepare detailed drawings
• Undertake energy modelling and system calculations
• Work with cross-functional teams so that designs support successful installations and good customer outcomes
• Contribute to improving design processes, standards and internal capability
• Cover residential solar PV, whole-of-home energy, energy modelling, HVAC and hot-water system considerations, and load calculations

Required profile

• Three or more years' experience designing or installing residential solar systems; HVAC or hot-water system experience highly regarded
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS standards including 4777, 5033, 5139 and 4509, and a sound understanding of residential construction and building codes
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple design priorities
• Collaborative, customer-focused and committed to quality and safety

Required skills

• Industry design and modelling software such as SolarPlus, PVSyst, TRNSYS or Revit
• Energy modelling and system calculations
