Registration Coordinator – Medical Registration

About the role

The Medical Council of New Zealand is seeking an organised Registration Coordinator to support the registration and ongoing regulation of doctors across the country. You will work closely with practitioners, employers and other health‑sector stakeholders to ensure applications are processed accurately and in line with the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for registration enquiries, handling them professionally and efficiently.
• Coordinate and process applications for registration and practising certificates.
• Provide clear guidance to applicants throughout the registration journey.
• Review documentation to confirm compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and produce high‑quality correspondence, reports and documentation.
• Support decision‑making in a regulatory context and assess applicant risk factors.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives within the Registration team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in customer‑facing, member support or registry functions.
• Experience in a regulatory or membership‑based environment is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence and resilience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to plain‑language clarity.
• Process‑driven, flexible and able to manage competing priorities.
