Registered Nurse – Operating Room (RN OR)

About the role

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN OR) provides comprehensive patient care throughout the pre‑operative, intra‑operative and post‑operative phases. Working closely with surgeons, anesthetists and the surgical team, the RN ensures safe, efficient and compassionate care for each surgical patient.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physiological and psychosocial status and document findings.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, including pain management and patient education.
• Perform pre‑operative verification, surgical site marking, and case counting.
• Assist during surgery, anticipate surgeon needs, and maintain aseptic technique.
• Respond to emergencies and adjust care plans based on evolving patient data.
• Ensure accurate patient identification and proper handling of blood products.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current RN license.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Knowledge of JCAHO regulations, Nurse Practice Act, and patient rights.
• Ability to document accurately, communicate effectively, and work within legal and ethical guidelines.
