Registered Nurse – Inpatient Surgical Ward

About the role

Join the Kea Inpatient Ward at Braemar Hospital, a leading private surgical facility in Hamilton, New Zealand. As a Registered Nurse you will provide pre‑ and post‑operative care for both adult and paediatric patients across a 37‑bed ward, supporting a diverse range of surgical specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive pre‑operative and post‑operative nursing care for patients in orthopaedic, spinal, plastics and ENT surgery.
• Collaborate with experienced surgeons, allied health professionals and fellow nurses to ensure patient‑centred outcomes.
• Monitor vital signs, manage dressings, administer medications and support patients through their recovery journey.
• Accurately document clinical observations and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.

Required profile

• Current New Zealand Nursing Registration (APC) with a valid practising certificate.
• At least three years of surgical ward nursing experience, preferably in orthopaedics, ENT, plastics or spinal surgery.
• Experience caring for both adult and paediatric surgical patients is an advantage.
• Strong collaborative attitude and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in pre‑operative and post‑operative nursing procedures.
• Knowledge of orthopaedic, spinal, plastics and ENT surgical protocols.
• Competence in medication administration, wound care and patient monitoring.
