Regional Leader – Central

About the role

Join the national Leadership Team of Ko Taku Reo Outreach School as a Regional Leader for the Central region. This full‑time, fixed‑term position supports over 850 Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across mainstream schools, providing both direct and indirect services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate six geographically dispersed Resource Teacher teams.
• Oversee service delivery to 197 direct‑service and 653 indirect‑service DHH students aged 3‑21.
• Report to the Head of Regional Outreach Services and contribute to strategic planning.
• Implement evidence‑based, culturally responsive inclusion practices aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum.
• Support professional development and maintain high standards of service quality.

Required profile

• Fully registered teacher or school leader with substantial middle or senior‑level leadership experience.
• Thorough understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and inclusive education for DHH learners.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a region and manage multiple teams.
• Willingness to work within the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne or Hawke’s Bay area.
• Special Education Post‑Graduate Diploma preferred but not essential.
