Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineer

About the role

A well-established, locally owned refrigeration and air conditioning company in Blenheim is looking for a hands-on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineer. The role suits someone who takes pride in their trade and wants variety, autonomy and career progression, either through technical specialisation or through greater responsibility in leadership, client relationships and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Install, service, commission and maintain refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs across a variety of sites
• Ensure all work complies with New Zealand regulations, codes and industry standards
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship, presentation and professionalism
• Communicate clearly with clients about job progress, issues and recommended solutions
• Prepare accurate quotes for repairs and replacement work in a timely manner
• Complete administrative tasks related to job assignments
• Build long-term client relationships and provide leadership to junior staff

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification in refrigeration and air conditioning, or be a 2nd or 3rd year apprentice
• Current Electrical Service Technician registration and licence
• Proven experience installing and servicing refrigeration and HVAC systems
• Willingness to take part in on-call after-hours service work

• Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team
• Willingness to support and mentor apprentices and junior team members

• Salary of $83,200 - $104,000 per year depending on experience, with overtime allowances
