Rail Project Engineer – Wellington

About the role

We are seeking a Rail Project Engineer to join our Wellington team and help deliver a diverse portfolio of rail and civil infrastructure projects. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from concept design through construction, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through to construction.
• Support the technical delivery of rail and civil infrastructure projects.
• Review engineering drawings, reports and technical documentation.
• Coordinate designers, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Manage project programmes, risks and delivery milestones.
• Support Safety in Design and quality‑assurance processes.
• Monitor project progress, budgets and deliverables.
• Assist with construction support and site activities where required.
• Build strong client relationships and drive successful project outcomes.

Required profile

• 6‑10+ years of experience in civil, rail or infrastructure engineering.
• Proven experience delivering engineering projects through design and construction.
• Strong project coordination and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Solid technical background with experience reviewing or contributing to engineering designs.
• Exposure to contractor management, construction support or site delivery.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with clients.
• Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards.
• Rail infrastructure experience is highly regarded; broader civil infrastructure experience is also welcome.
