Python Developer (Remote) – AI Model Testing

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Python backend developer to join our remote team on a contract basis. You will help train next‑generation AI systems by building and testing high‑quality APIs and providing actionable feedback on AI‑powered coding tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable APIs.
• Implement robust data validation, error handling, and security best practices.
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and schema changes.
• Test new AI‑powered models in Cursor, reporting incidents, bugs and screenshots.
• Participate in intensive 4‑day testing bursts to evaluate AI impact on coding workflows.
• Collaborate with the research team via Slack, sharing findings and improvement ideas.
• Complete post‑burst surveys delivering insights on model performance and developer experience.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience, primarily with Python.
• Proven ability to build and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Strong understanding of data validation, error handling and API security.
• Hands‑on experience with database migrations, performance optimisation and schema design.
• Extensive use of AI coding tools; familiarity with Cursor is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, confidential, collaborative remote environment.
