Project Manager – Commercial Construction (Wellington CBD)

About the role
Our client, a respected commercial construction contractor, is seeking a Project Manager to lead a portfolio of multi‑storey projects in Wellington's CBD. You will own delivery from commencement through handover, working closely with site teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure safe, on‑time, and on‑budget outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead project delivery from planning through to completion.
- Manage subcontractors, labour‑only crews and site resources.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
- Oversee procurement, contract administration and variations.
- Develop and maintain project programmes and look‑ahead plans.
- Coordinate consultants, suppliers and key stakeholders.
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Maintain strong client relationships throughout delivery.
- Drive quality, safety and programme outcomes.
- Provide accurate reporting to senior management.
Required profile
- Commercial construction experience within New Zealand.
- Strong understanding of project financials and commercial outcomes.
- Experience managing subcontractors and site‑based teams.
- Confidence delivering challenging projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of construction sequencing and methodologies.
- Practical problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.
Required skills
- Proficiency with modern project management and construction software.

- Salary range $140,000‑$160,000 per year (NZD) plus a vehicle for permanent employees.
