Project Manager – Case Services (Ministry of Justice)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced senior Project Manager to join the Case Services team within Digital, Te Tāhū o te Ture – the Ministry of Justice. The role is permanent and offers the chance to lead passionate project teams in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and coordinate a multidisciplinary team to achieve project objectives.
• Manage project budgets, risks, issues and escalations.
• Represent the project in governance and steering committee activities.
• Produce timely, accurate reports for stakeholders.
• Oversee release management and ensure milestones are delivered on time and within budget.
• Build strong collaborative relationships and act as a trusted leader across the organisation.

Required profile

• Tertiary degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Proven project‑management experience in large, complex organisations, preferably in an Agile environment.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high‑quality outcomes on schedule and budget.
• Experience working with service managers and external vendors to drive digital change.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Public‑sector digital project delivery experience is desirable.

Required skills

• Reporting and writing for governance committees.
• Business case development using Treasury’s Better Business Case methodology.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite – Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Teams.
• Experience with FMIS and PowaPlanner project‑management tools.
